The cream of the country’s young talent will be seen in action when the TOSS all-India junior ranking badminton tournament gets underway at the TOSS Academy badminton complex here on Monday.

The tournament has attracted 770 players from all over India. Competitions will be held in the under-17 and under-19 categories, and around 1,350 matches will be played during the course of the tournament.

The junior ranking tournament, which was regularly held in Kochi for more than a decade, was allotted to Thiruvananthapuram this year as part of Kerala Badminton Association’s initiative to spread the game to other districts.

The tournament offers a total prize money of Rs.3,00,000. The qualifying rounds of the tournament will be held at two venues, the Jimmy George indoor stadium and the TOSS Academy courts, on Monday and Tuesday.
